About Me
- Karen
- Denver, Colorado
- Its about time I update my blog. I'm the type of person who insists on havng a good time. Almost to a fault. I enjoy quiet time with my husband and would really like a dog but realize we dont have time to take care of one. We love adventures. I love the thought of being finshed with a great big hike or bike or run. That feeling of accomplishment - of seeing a new place or the view from the top of one of the highest mountains in the state. I hate the thought of that first step or peddle. I love my husband and our families. I am so blessed. I'm terrified of losing my parents someday. My circle of friends grows larger and stronger every day and I cant fathom how lucky I am in this life.

April 29th
Awesome: When you get home from work and dinner is made sitting on the table. I could get used to this!
April 28th
YEAH: When you are the first person someone wants to see after a 5 month trip out of the country.
Picked up my friend Stacey from the airport tonight. She came straight here from a 5 month trip to NZ. She's staying for a week before she heads back to Boise. I'm so lucky!!!

Purely awesome: New friends, new friends who put you up in their super awesome apartment off Bleecker Street (photo to come), super awesome apartments in Manhattan, Chelsea, old friends, what an awesome trip!!
April 25th
Awesomeness (in a not good way): Central Park so packed you can't walk because it's full of Ivy leaguer rich kids in bikinis and canvas shorts (Promise to get a photo here).
There wasn't even any room for the crazies we were so excited to see.
Plus tell me it's not the most undesireable thing to put on a swimsuit when you know due to lack of water and swimming area there is absolutely NO CHANCE you'll swim that day.

April 23 (#2)
Oh and that run this morning. F'ing amazing. The sun was just peeking up over the mountain when we got to the top. Wanted to do sun salutations but just felt to cliche:)

April 22
2 things: A little kid (okay like 10 or 12 yrs old) had his hands all in his pants at the gym today. I mean, really in his pants. We were chuckling about it and then out of nowhere, Wade goes: "Hey do you have an itch??" The kid was really taken and I pretended not to hear so I didn't burst out laughing...
Second: I decided and made plans to meet a coworker so I can't back out that I'm going to get to a meeting locale at 6 am tomorrow to go run up a mountain (it's only a mile so I don't want anyone to think I'm doing something I'm not:) before work... whew i'm tired just thinking about it.
Tomorrow we are going to NYC for the weekend. YEAH! I'll make sure to take note of the awesomest things that happen each day so I can post when I get back!!!

April 20th
Exercise! Each week since I finished school I've been telling myself I'm going to start running again. Each week I tell myself "One more week"... today I finally coaxed myself to get into my shorts and tennis shoes and went out there. It's been at least a year since I would call myself a somewhat regular jogger. It was like riding a bike... and boy did it feel good. Like the awesome blog I really need to keep this up.

April 19th
I need to get the camera hooked up but the most awesome thing about today was that after the weather went from blizzard to raining all day yesterday, we woke up to an amazingly intense sunshine, GREEN grass (amazing and will be brown again in about a week), and went snowshoeing in 2 feet of snow with our t-shirts and got sunburned!!! How awesome is that! *I'll post pictures here soon.
April 18th
I'm not sure if the coping thing counted as "April 18th" so I'll post one of the awesome things that happened today. At sushi happy hour on Saturday (this sushi place is in a crazy posh denver neighborhood and the only time we feel like affording to go there is for saturday sushi happy hour) we sat next to two chicks having a venting session and it's like de ja vu.. don't know what it is about saturdays and spoiled chicks venting, but to me it's awesome that so many of these sessions involve one person spewing at the mouth and the other person listening with one ear and every once in a while throwing in an "uh huh" "yep" *look at watch* etc etc. It's become some sort of thing for me and wade where we just enjoy each other in silence listening because it never fails on these saturday dates. I'm not sure which chick is more awesome -- The listening chick for being such a patient friend, or the spewing at the mouth about nonsense chick because,, well, W-O-W.

365 days of awesomeness
I just got this idea from a good friend. Something awesome happens every single day in this life (in Chris' words: from bus freaks to bulgogi). I'm not stealing the idea. In fact I'm pretty sure it's already been done a few times. I do think that awesome is different to everyone though and I believe it is important to remain aware of how awesome this life really is. So, I'm going to start posting something every day. If I miss a day because I'm away from the computer I'll make a note of what happend that day and post it the next time I get to the computer.
Now, I'm normally not very good at following through with things like this but I'm really going to try. And now that I'm posting this blog I think I'll be held more accountable for doing this.
I'll start by saying how awesome our instict of "coping" is. We were stuck on the freeway from 4pm to 2am last night in about a 13 mile stretch. The DOT closed it both directions. I think it's awesome that after flipping out about the situation at 4:30 after waiting about a half hour, our bodies and our minds allowed us to just calm down, realize the world isn't ending, and eventually we'd get home. It's awesome how the next 9.5 hours were filled with some weird contentment which came from gawd knows where. You think the world is ending after a half hour but are then able to cope with the inevitable for the next 9.5 with no real concern. That's pretty awesome. And to put the icing on the cake we got to see a ford focus asswipe driver wreck his car trying to get in front of everyone. That was awesome:)
