Side bar -- I'm just finishing a quick trip to Vegas with my mom. She's a blast. We had a blast. We saw O at the Bellagio which was amazing. Utterly. Legends at Imperial Palace was also great. Otherwise just hanging out and walking and gambling and drinking cocktails and eating was all superb. We stayed at Planet Hollywood on the strip. I think I said it last time but if I ever go back to Vegas I'm definitely staying off the strip.... seen one huge casino littered with out-of-my-league shops, seen them all in my opinion.
Anyway, we were playing a fun little penny game at PH last night about 5 pm. I ordered a drink so dug into my wallet to find some singles. Then I was finishing up at the penny game and a girl walked up behind me and asked me if I was finished playing. I grabbed my ticket and got out of her way. She sat down.
10 minutes later and across the casino, I realized my wallet was gone. I had taken out most of my cards, etc but it did have my license, my credit card, and about $250 in it. I ran back to the game. It was nowhere to be found. I asked the couple sitting there if they had seen it. Nope. I traced my steps. No place. I went straight to security who assured me one of their people probably found it and I had to fill out a request form to have them look for it..... nothing. Nothing all night. Nothing today. Nothing.
I don't care about the $$. I really don't. It sucks to lose but I can't fathom finding a wallet and not thinking how much someone must want their id and credit card back. If someone was that hard up for the $ couldn't they have taken it and thrown the wallet someplace else? This is the second thing that has happened to me in the last month that I can't get over the way some people apparently are.
The first was exactly a month ago -- the 15th of January we were driving our little civic in rush hour and got rear ended. REALLY hard. REALLY REALLY hard. Our car was totalled and the guy that hit us tried to drive away. When he couldn't go any further, he got out of the car on the freeway and RAN away. Nobody gets away that way, right. Oh but they do. He did. And then your next thought is, at least they have the car with the registered title so now he for sure can't get away, right? But when the car is owned by his girlfriend and she reports it stolen you think to yourself, well if she reported it stolen AFTER the accident, surely she is lieing and the police will catch her, and at least our insurance deductible will be recovered. Not so far. So far, her car was stolen at the time of the accident so the insurance company won't cover our liability damage.
Now I'm not naive enough to think that there is justice in the world always or that everyone plays fair. Things happen all the time that you think, wow that really sucks but there is nothing I can do about it at this point. But when we are talking about random acts of shitiness, what is the deal? Where is the justice? When is the next thing that someone does directly affecting me that I just can't fathom going to happen? And don't people care about karma anymore?

- Its about time I update my blog. I'm the type of person who insists on havng a good time. Almost to a fault. I enjoy quiet time with my husband and would really like a dog but realize we dont have time to take care of one. We love adventures. I love the thought of being finshed with a great big hike or bike or run. That feeling of accomplishment - of seeing a new place or the view from the top of one of the highest mountains in the state. I hate the thought of that first step or peddle. I love my husband and our families. I am so blessed. I'm terrified of losing my parents someday. My circle of friends grows larger and stronger every day and I cant fathom how lucky I am in this life.
